Eyelash extensions are an investment; at Lash Layer we understand that. Just as with any investment, you always want a high-quality rate of return. We use medical-grade Canadian made eyelash adhesive on all of our clients. Quality of product matters because it ensures a higher rate of eyelash retention, which saves you money in the end. Additionally, Lash Layer is the only studio that guarantees four-week minimum retention of your eyelash extensions in Pickering. The average retention rate of extensions by other studios is 2.5-3 weeks and without a guarantee. Why do people get red eyes as a result of eyelash extensions?
There are numerous potential reasons that red eyes may occur. The most common is because of cheap low-quality lash adhesives that may contain chemicals that are too strong for eyelash extensions and are not up to the Canadian standards of safety. Another reason is improper taping methods that are applied by an inexperienced technician allowing fumes to get into the eyes.
You have looked through a lot of lash artists’ work and don’t know how to decipher good work from bad. Let me help you. When looking through pictures of extensions, check to see if clients are suffering from chemical burns! If you see red eyes in after photos, this is a sign of corneal abrasion.
At Lash Layer, we prefer to use clear adhesive as they dont contain additional additives such as Carbon Black and lowers the chance of an Allergic reaction.

Our brown lashes come in a chocolate brown color with a matte finish. You can customize your look as you would with black lashes. Brown lash extensions are available in classic, hybrid & volume styles.

Lash Prep and Lash Aftercare
Before your Appointment
- Please come to your appointment with no eye-makeup to ensure you get the most time out of your lash appointment, Less time cleaning and more time lashing!
- Lashes must be clean, free of makeup, oil, lotion and all residue for proper adhesion of extensions.
- If you wear contact lenses, please remove them before your appointment. You can wear them immediately after your service is complete.
- Please disclose any allergies or eye conditions, medications or products and treatments used on and around the eye area.
- If you are using a lash growth serum, please notify your technician before the appointment.
- If you have had a Lash Lift done recently, please wait upto 8 weeks since your service to get Eyelash Extensions done
Lash Extension Aftercare
- Refrain from any heat-induced activity for 24 hours after your appointment; this means hot yoga or saunas.
- If you are planning to go on vacation, book your appointment 2-3 days before.
- Never use a mechanical eyelash curler.
- Do not get a lash tint or a lash perm.
- Try not to touch, pick or rub your eyelash extensions.
- Avoid use cotton swabs, pads, anything containing lint on your extensions.
- Be sure to gently brush and cleanse lashes with an oil-free cleanser three times a week. For your convenience, we also offer a lash cleansing solution and soft brush for purchase.
- Avoid all oil-based products such as makeup, makeup removers, and skincare, as it can infer with the longevity of lash extensions and adhesion.
- Lashes go through natural shedding and growth cycles, which is why regular maintenance is essential! Proper care can, however, increase the time between required fill appointments.
- Avoid Excessive heat on your lashes. Lighters, BBQ's, Ovens and Hot water on the lashes can singe the tips and flatten out the curl.

Eyelash Extensions Faq
Do eyelash extensions ruin your natural lashes?
No, with proper application, eyelash extensions will not damage the health of your natural eyelashes. Damage to natural lashes is the result of either improper application or a lash artist not selecting the correct type of lash (weight and length) for an existing natural lash that may be too heavy for your natural eyelash to handle. This is the reason why it is crucial to go to an artist who is experienced and will be able to choose and apply the correct lash extensions for you.
Can you put mascara on eyelash extensions?
Wearing mascara with eyelash extensions is not recommended and should be avoided as much as possible. The reason for this is that mascara tends to clump the extensions together, particularly for fan lashes. If you are planning to wear mascara in addition to the extensions, only use it on classic lash extensions and gently apply a small amount of the product. This will be enough to give your eyes that “pop” along with the extensions. Never use mascara on Volume lash extensions or at the base of the extensions. This can ruin your extensions and is extremely difficult to remove. If using mascara on your extensions, it is best to use a water-based mascara, which will come off easily and does not require oil-based removers to take off. Additionally, using waterproof mascara on the extensions is not recommended, as it is hard to remove and can pull off the lash extensions prematurely when trying to take it off.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
Lash extensions are semi-permanent and typically last 4-8 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle and aftercare. Refills every 3-4 weeks keep them looking their best.
Can I get my lashes wet or do I have to wait for 24 hrs?
Yes, you can! We use premium adhesives, so you don’t have to wait 24-48 hours to get them wet. Shower, wash your face, or enjoy a good cry right after your appointment—your lashes are safe!
Booking Policy
BOOKING FEE & CANCELATION POLICY
- All services require a deposit fee. This fee is deducted from your total upon completion of your appointment.
- $50 for all Eyelash Extension services.
- $150 for all Permanent Makeup services.
- Once you book your appointment online, you can send the deposit via e-transfer to: deposit@lashlayer.com
- Please note that booking fees are NON REFUNDABLE.
- ALL appointments are subjected to our 48-hour cancellation policy. Your booking fee will be non-transferable if you cancel within this timeframe. If you reschedule or cancel before the 48 hours, your booking fee can be applied towards a future appointment.
- Our cancellation policy is FIRM
Appointment policy
- Please do not ring the doorbell. Text us at 647-365-1700 to let us know you have arrived.
- If you arrive early, please wait in your car.
- Due to our services being time-sensitive, it is crucial that you arrive on time.
- If you are late for your appointment, your appointment will still end on time.
- Please arrive with clean eyelashes, this means absolutely no eye make-up, no strip lash glue or any oily eye creams.
- If you arrive with dirty lashes, your appointment time will be spent on cleaning your lashes as our Retention Technique requires that all lashes be clean and free of dirt and makeup to create a perfect bond with the adhesive.
- If you have a cough, cold, fever or flu, please reschedule your appointment.
