Microblading Before and After

No! Microblading enhances what you already have to make the eyebrows look as natural as possible. The more hairs we can incorporate into the design of your new eyebrows, the better. Microblading is an excellent solution for over-plucked eyebrows, or for those who have very sparse and thin eyebrow hairs. Microblading can also be a unique solution for people with alopecia or scar covering. It is not necessary, nor recommended for a client to get rid of any of the natural hair you already have.

Before the start of the treatment, I use a topical anesthetic; therefore, the level of pain experienced is very minimal. However, everyone’s skin and pain threshold are different, and everyone will have varying experiences. Some feel nothing at all. I regularly hear the expression “That’s it!?” by my clients when I begin microblading due to how little discomfort they feel. Many of my clients have even fallen asleep!

Microblading requires a manual tool to deposit pigment into the first layer of the skin. Powder Brows or Ombre shading requires a machine to disperse fine dots (pixels) of pigment across the surface. Microblading produces hair strokes, whereas ombre shading mimics a soft powder makeup look.

Hybrid Brows are the combination of both. Hairstrokes are used to create a natural hair look and then soft shading is added through the rest of the eyebrow to create density. The shading can be kept light & airy or be bold.

Pigments during microblading are not implanted as deep into the skin as a traditional tattoo. For this reason, it’s easy to change up your brows as the trends change or as you age. A colour boost is required usually between 18-24 months. A touch-up maybe needed at 12 months or sooner for oily-skinned clients. If you often tan or expose your brow area to certain chemicals (facial peels, chlorine, anti-ageing products). Pigment retention varies depending on skin type, age, aftercare, immune system, medications, certain chemicals, and the type of pigment used.

Powder Brows lasts up-to 2-3 years. Its a great choice for oily skin clients.

Semi-permanent eyebrows is a 2 part procedure, consisting of an initial appointment and follow-up appointment after 6-8 weeks.

I like to dedicate at least 3 hours per appointment. So that we can take our time mapping the perfect outline that you and I are both happy with. Brow Mapping takes about 1 Hour and the prcedure takes 1.5 hours.

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure, and the colour will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The colour will fade by up to 30-50% as it heals and slightly shrinks in size. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark, and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the pigment. The eyebrows will lighten up in colour as it heals. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about one month for the colour to fully set in. You’ll notice the colour is very light right after two weeks; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. Often known as “milk skin” and is part of the healing process for permanent eyebrows. This happens as tissue is still healing from the inside, even though the surface of the skin has healed. The actual colour will reveal itself once healed.

If your brows haven’t been waxed or cleaned up for a while, I recommend that you get them waxed at least two days before your microblading appointment. If you chose to do so, you could visit me for a Waxing during which I will Brow Map and wax your brows based on your final microbladed shape. During your microblading appointment, I will shape, clean up and remove all stray hairs that don’t belong within your new brow shape. You will leave with clean, flawless, beautiful brows!

Please read through the Medical/Skin Conditions checklist to check if you are a good candidate. Other conditions to look out for:
Who aren’t great candidates?
1. Those who enjoy lots of tanning.
2. Those who have raised skin from scarring, moles, piercings, or cystic acne.
3. Those who constantly shed skin in eyebrow area (psoriasis, keratosis, pilaris, dermatitis, eczema). 4. Those using acne medication.
5. Those using chemical peels/exfoliants such as Retinol.
6. Excessive oily skin.
If you fall under these categories please message me for information about this.

A 4-6 week touch-up is required after the initial session. This is because normally clients retain 60-80% of their pigment after the first session. Not all clients will need a touch-up, but in the event that you do, book a touch-up with me and I will fill any areas that did not retain pigment.

Flaking of skin on the microbladed area is a *natural* part of the healing process. However, with the aid of PHI CANDY provided to you after your appointment and the Wet Healing process I use, clients experience almost zero flaking or scabbing. Rest assured that you can go right back to normal life and have no awkward weeks of healing.

1. Stop using any facial products containing Retin A/Retinol for 48 hours before treatment.
2. Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before your appointment (will limit bleeding).
3. Stop taking aspirin/blood thinners 48 hours before your appointment (will limit bleeding).
4. Do not wax your brows. It is best to grow out your hair as much as possible so that we can incorporate as many natural hairs as possible. I will clean up any eyebrow hairs that are not within our design.
5. Avoid using facial creams 24 hours before the appointment. The drier the skin is – the better! (for pigment retention)

No Botox injections in the forehead are up to 4 weeks before your Semi-Permanent Eyebrow appointment.

I like to dedicate at least 3 hours of my day booked to one client. I spend 45 mins mapping the perfect eyebrow outline. I use the Phi compass to find the golden ratio of your face, followed by the Phi Measuring app to check for symmetry. Once you and I are both happy with your shape, we move ahead with the procedure. It takes 1.5 – 2 hours for the actual microblading procedure. As there is very minimal discomfort during the procedure due to full numbing, clients usually sleep through it!

The answer is YES, but with caution! As long as you avoid applying makeup near the brows. Always wash your hands and use clean makeup brushes. This ensures you are not introducing bacteria or other pathogens into the eyebrows while they are still healing.

I include a gentle Foaming cleanser and brush in your after care kit, which removes makeup and oil easily.

Yes! However, I must see the current condition of your pigment and shape of your eyebrows before confirming if I am comfortable with correcting your brows. Here are some examples of work I will not accept and what is ok.

YES, you can. However, sun tanning and burning can speed up the process of pigment loss. Want your brows to last as long as possible? Wear moisturizers with high SPF and stay out of the sun

No! It would be best if you avoided any activities that will induce sweating while your brows are healing. As your eyebrows are considered an open wound post-procedure, it is important not to introduce any new bacteria since this can pose a risk of infection. Instead, relax while your brows heal.

However, if you absolutely have to go to the gym after your appointment, I recommend using Phi Skin Candy – Sun & Sweat Protection barrier cream.
